We are delighted to announce the appointment of William Campbell as Cathedral Organist at Leeds Cathedral from April 2024.

Prior to joining our team, William, who holds the Royal College of Organists’ prestigious Fellowship diploma, was the Organ Scholar at Canterbury Cathedral, having previously held posts at St Helen’s Church, Stonegate in York and Leeds Minster, where he accompanied the choir in two BBC broadcasts. In addition, William maintains a busy recital schedule.

A keen violinist and trumpeter, William was educated at Wellington College, where he took up the organ aged 14, later accompanying the College Chapel Choir. In 2023 he graduated with first-class honours in Music from the University of York.

William says, “I’m very excited to be joining the team at the Diocese of Leeds Music! I’m really looking forward to fully immersing myself in both the Keyboard Studies and Schools Singing Programmes as well as working extensively with the various choirs at Leeds Cathedral and joining up with the staff in a flourishing music department!”

David Pipe comments, “We’re delighted to have someone of William’s immense skill and talent joining the team. He brings a wealth of experience as a liturgical player, and we look forward to welcoming him as part of the wider Keyboard Studies Programme.”
