The partnership between Bishop Konstant Catholic Academy Trust and Bishop Konstant Youth Choir began in January 2017 with the appointment of Choral Director, Charlotte Kitson, to deliver weekly choral singing sessions in the primary schools of the Trust. Each class learns a range of music to complement and enhance their learning about the liturgical year, as well as songs from different times, cultures and styles. In addition, many of the schools have gone on to be successful at the Rothwell Competitive Festival of Music, under Charlotte’s direction.

The Bishop Konstant Youth Choir was formed in March 2017 and rehearses after school in 4 satellite groups each week, with members aged 8-18 enjoying a high quality musical education at no cost to them. They regularly sing Masses, Concerts and Services in parishes throughout the Wakefield and Pontefract area, as well as at the annual Diocesan Choir Festivals at Leeds Cathedral.

We were thrilled to welcome @jamesmacm to Leeds Cathedral this evening, where we enjoyed his fascinating discussion with @Opera_North’s Richard Mantle. Fantastic singing from @DOLMusic Cathedral Girls and @ndcchoir beforehand, too!

Next Tuesday our wonderful @DOLMusic Leeds Cathedral Girls' Choir are joined by @ndcchoir for Vespers, Mass (Sermisy, Victoria, Palestrina) and a short concert prior to a fascinating talk from @jamesmacm and RIchard Mantle of @Opera_North - concert and talk only £5 from @LeedsIOF

A privilege and responsibility to work for @DOLMusic where a superb cathedral choir is just part of a sustained system of classroom singing...last night I got to step back and listen as Notre Dame students conducted, an amazing sound from our Girls' Choir and School Scholars!

What do more than 400 musicians performing Parry look like? I'm glad you asked... 🎺🎺👑👑🎻🎻🎶🎶🍾🎉
