Diocese of Leeds: Lead the singing!

Three choral workshops designed to assist non-professional singers and parish musicians with the provision of high-quality music for Mass. Sessions in vocal coaching, choral conducting, organ accompaniment and chant to give you tools to help invigorate choral music for the liturgy.

Session 1: Exploring your voice

In this session we will take a deep dive into singing choral music for Mass, learning some varied repertoire in different styles and building strong foundations in vocal technique.

Session 2: Finding greater meaning

Learn to decode chant with our in-house expert, David Grealy, and choose between two breakout options: how to understand your choir’s conductor, and a masterclass in liturgical organ playing. Plus learn some common psalms, and a Magnificat, the stalwart of Vespers.

Session 3: Bringing it all together

The workshop series culminates in an opportunity to discover even more choral music and return to singing repertoire from previous weeks, rehearsing it in depth with expert vocal coaching.
