Benjamin Saunders releases new Jazz CD

Dick Hyman is a well-known figure in American jazz. His career has spanned more than 60 years, and his performances (as jazz pianist) and his compositions have been found throughout the broadcast media, on Broadway and in cinema. For example, Mr. Hyman was responsible for the music in many of the Woody Allen feature films, and Mr. Hyman was the organist for the stunt tv game show "Beat the Clock" back in the 1970s. He has earned numerous honors and awards.

Benjamin Saunders became acquainted with Mr. Hyman at an Edinburgh Jazz Festival many years ago, and this friendship developed to the point where Benjamin Saunders, organist, the director of music for the Diocese of Leeds, undertook the recording of an entire album devoted to Mr. Hyman's organ compositions. The music has overtones of the cool jazz of the 1960s and 1970s. Real cool! This new recording, just released, features the Cathedral's Norman and Beard organ, recently renovated by Klais.
