November 15th, 2015 - The Orchestra of Leeds Cathedral
The Orchestra of Leeds Cathedral

Last week, the newly-formed Orchestra of Leeds Cathedral (OLC) gave its debut performance at Mass, alongside the Leeds Cathedral choirs. Formed by three Leeds College of Music graduates, this orchestra has been set up in partnership with the Cathedral to augment the already thriving music department within the Diocese of Leeds.
Under the direction of Yannis Daoutis, the orchestra and choirs performed extracts of Faure’s Requiem. The collaboration between the orchestra and the choir proved highly successful and was remarkably well received by the congregation, as well as choristers and members of staff from the music department.
As a follow up to this successful partnership, the orchestra hopes to put on a Christmas concert in the Cathedral on 18th December, and at other churches within the Diocese in the run up to Christmas. We hope that these concerts will be well received and any support would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks to Edmund Le Brocq for this recording.
