June 17th, 2013 - Carmina Burana in Bradford
Carmina Burana in Bradford

Carmina Burana in Bradford

Bradford Catholic Youth Choir opened the weekend's Bradford Festival in a spectacular choral and orchestral performance with Bradford Festival Choral Society and Skipton Building Society Camerata under the direction of Thomas Leech (Director of the Diocese's Schools Singing Programme). An audience of over a thousand heard the 170 singers and symphony orchestra perform Orff's Carmina Burana and a selection of choral classics.

A burst of rain mid-way through the performance didn't dampen the spirits of the crowd, with many audience members simply getting out their brollies, and the concert was remarkable for placing orchestra and choir on separate stages, a challenge that the performers met with aplomb.

Bradford Catholic Youth Choir are supported through the work of the diocese's Schools Singing Programme and St. Bede's Catholic Grammar School, St. Joseph's Catholic College, Holy Family School (Keighley) and St. Joseph's Church (Bradford).
