West Yorkshire still enjoys many local music festivals where choirs of all ages and types can compete each year. This year the 106th Wharfedale festival was held in Ilkley, and choirs from Diocesan schools enjoyed success in the competition.
Particular congratulations to the Year Fours from Holy Spirit School, Heckmondwike (pictured), conducted by diocesan choral director Keith Roberts. This school won the Under 9 School Choir category beating schools from York and Bradford.
In the Under 11 category, St. Anthony's School in Shipley came 2nd, and St. Anne's School in Keighley came 3rd. However, all seven diocesan schools who competed performed with great credit and even those who didn't manage to get a top position can be proud of their achievement.
