April 19th, 2011 - Holy Week Concert
Holy Week Concert

On Tuesday April 19th at 7.30pm a concert celebrating some of the finest choral music will be sung by Leeds Cathedral Choirs. The Cathedral Boys', Girls' and Adult Choirs will combine with Holy Rosary and St Anne's School Choir to form a group of some 80 singers. The music will range from Monteverdi to Byrd and will feature the full power of the Cathedral's stunning new pipe organ in a performance of the Kyrie from Louis Vierne's monumental Messe Solonnelle.

Admission is free with a retiring collection for Holy Rosary and St Anne's School in Chapeltown and the Friends of Cathedral Music. The Friends of Cathedral Music is a national charity dedicated to safeguarding our priceless heritage of cathedral music and supporting the of the children that make this music. Holy Rosary and St Anne's School in Chapeltown, Leeds is aiming to become the first state primary choir school in the country.  In the future, it would change its name to Leeds Cathedral Choir School, and there would be a new purpose built music block, and every child will learn to play an instrument. The aim is to bring musical opportunities usually only available to a privileged few, right into the inner city of Leeds.
