March 17th, 2010 - BBC Radio 4 broadcasts live from Bradford
BBC Radio 4 broadcasts live from Bradford

BBC Radio 4's flagship religion programme ‘Sunday Worship' was broadcast live from St Josephs Church Bradford on Mothering Sunday.  Music for the service was led by the Bradford Boys' and Girls' Choirs, alongside children from Catholic schools in Bradford and Keighley who are members of the Diocese of Leeds Schools Singing Programme.

The service was led by the Parish Priest, Fr John Newman.  The meditations were written and delivered by Dr Ann Marie Mealey from Leeds Trinity University College.

The programme was part of the BBC's Lenten series in partnership Churches Together in Britain and Ireland entitled 'People on the edge of his pain.'  Each week a different character from the passion narrative is examined - the fourth Sunday of Lent being Mothering Sunday made the obvious choice Mary, the mother of God.

Music for the broadcast included the Stabat mater, a setting of the Ave Maria by Simon Lindley, concluding with the Lourdes hymn ‘Holy Virgin, by God's decree.'

The programme can be listened to for up to seven days on i-player.
