March 11th, 2009 - Cathedral Choir School Announced
Cathedral Choir School Announced

There was a special concert at the Holy Rosary and St Anne's School, Chapeltown on Wednesday March 4th and as usual the children sang beautifully. The reason for the concert was to announce that the school wishes to become a Choir School.

The school is a multi-cultured school. 87% of learners are from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, of which 61% are of African/Caribbean heritage.

The Head , Mrs Carter said: "Our school is full of very talented children who rise above many barriers to succeed. What we would like to do is open the door of opportunity to children who are multi- talented but who do not have the infrastructure within their environment or community to encourage them to shine and showcase their talents. Our vision is to work in partnership with the Diocese has one of the largest and fastest growing programmes of choral music for young people in the United Kingdom. We will seek to build on this tradition of excellence in music and singing by establishing a choir school at Holy Rosary and St Anne's which is, already, the Cathedral school. This will provide the opportunity to infuse the curriculum with excitement, imagination and inspiration. It will ensure that through singing and music, aspirations and standards of achievement for every child will be raised."
