Leeds Cathedral Choirs - Children's Choir

The Cathedral Children's Choir:

Our newest choir, the Cathedral Children’s Choir, was formed in September 2014. The choir consists of 40 children between the ages of 5 and 9, many of whom graduate to the Cathedral Junior Boys’ or Girls’ Choir when they have reached the appropriate standard. Many of the Children's Choir members are selected from primary schools in our Diocese of Leeds Schools Singing Programme, while other children are welcome to audition from outside. The main criteria for membership are enthusiasm for singing, a good ear for music and a willingness to attend every week.

Membership of the choir offers children the opportunity to develop their musical and vocal skills, make new friends with similar interests, and perform to a high standard. They sing a varied repertoire of sacred and secular music and have several performances planned for 2015.

The choir rehearses on Tuesdays after school and is led by Choral Director Lucy Haigh, assisted by Choral Conducting Scholar Charles Rhodes.

Please contact the Music Department Coordinator if you would like your child to audition.
