The choir of All Saints Catholic College, Huddersfield, has taken the world of competitive school singing by storm. Formed in September 2007, the choir travelled to Austria this summer to enter the World Choir Games 2008, where they were awarded a bronze medal.
Inspired by BBC Television programme "The Choir", Christopher McElroy formed a school choir from scratch to compete in the OPAL Magic of Music competition. This took place in April 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The 40 young singers were delighted to be awarded first place, with the prize of an all expenses paid trip to the World Choir Games in Austria.
In judging the competition, adjudicator Sharon D. Clarke praised All Saints for "clear, tuneful, beautiful harmonies" and "a wonderful blend with fabulous basses from the boys". Click here to read more about the choir.
