The Huddersfield singing programme was launched in 2008, and follows the model of the Bradford and Keighley choirs, whereby children in primary and secondary schools rehearse during school time with a choral director.
A specialist auditioned choir for boys, rehearsing after school, was set up in 2008, taking residence at St Patrick's Church in the town centre. A new choir for girls began in February 2010.
